Shaun's Story

Shaun was born on June 10, 2011 to an adoring family. He is our 4th child, 3rd boy, at 8 lbs 3 oz and 20 and 3/4 inches long and wonderful. He developed normally for a while...but by Christmas we could see there were some developmental delays. This started a long road of trips to specialists and finally a diagnosis of Mitochondrial DNA Depletion Syndrome (mtDNA DS) - most likely the same thing that our first born daughter, Sarah, also had. Shaun loves his family so much and is so blessed to be surrounded by a large "extended family" of people in our community who love him. He brings so much joy to our lives. It is our hope that this blog will be an avenue to learn more about Shaun and perhaps yourself as well.
