A Request

"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.  God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God and God in him." 1 John 4:16

Shaun, 1 year old
As people have been asking - what can we do?? - we usually tell them PRAY.  Prayer is powerful and so evident in Shaun's life.. even now in his hospital room, God's presence is so very evident as people around the world who have never even met him are praying.  Thank-you so very much for those prayers!.. they are making a significant difference in our lives.

As Shaun's Mom was thinking about this question... she wanted me to share this message:

"For those of you wondering what you can do for us besides pray, consider doing an act of kindness in Shaun's name. To know he has made an impact and his loving spirit lives in us is a great honor. Please feel free to let us know about the act of kindness you do in a personal message so we can see how his story is continuing to impact this world. Thanks."

This request was shared with a few family members.. and then was picked up by a local TV station in Shaun's Grandma Mari's town of Presque Isle Maine - all before I could post it on the blog!  WAGM-TV posted a message (below) about Shaun's story and his family and it is trending on Facebook.  It is really special to see the outpouring of love and support for Shaun and his family.

What is strength? Strength is this boy's family, having to let go of the most important thing in the world. Right now 2 yr. old Shaun Steyaert is losing his fight for life. Just last week Shaun was diagnosed with mitochondrial depletion disorder. Doctors say he has lived longer than expected but his quality of life is no longer there.
What is love? Love is his family, willing to let Shaun be at peace despite every desire to keep him in their arms.
What is Selflessness? Selflessness is his family, looking at what this tragic moment in their lives can do to bring kindness to others.
Today, the Steyaert family is asking you to take up acts of kindness this weekend. Do something for someone else....please do it in little Shaun Steyaert's name. This is the wish of a grieving family...PLEASE Share this wish. It's the first Act of Kindness you can do this weekend. You can also follow Shaun's story here...  http://shaunsteyaert.blogspot.com/

Shaun's angelic face that Denise woke up to this morning.
35 "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to me.’
37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 And the King will answer them, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’"
Matthew 25:35-40
